The volume level must be kept low enough not to disturb coworkers. Use of ipods is permitted with headphones. Socializing should be kept to a minimum, especially in the public areas of the library. Personal telephone calls should be kept to a minimum and should be limited to three minutes or less. Work performed should be neat and legible. Your supervisor will also have specific performance guidelines. GUIDELINES FOR THE METADATA SERVICES DEPARTMENT The Metadata Services Department has expectations for all staff regarding work performance. Try to resolve any differences concerning work leader or student employee coordination through informal discussions with Library Human Resources. You may be subject to discipline for inattention to duty, inefficiency, insubordination, absence without permission, violation of law or University regulations, intemperance, dishonesty, misuse of public funds or property, or other misconduct which adversely affects the University. Consult with your supervisor and know the standards of performance and conduct that is expected of you. Observe and respect the rights and property of others. Use University time, funds, and property for University business only. Inform your supervisor concerning expected absences from work. Consult with your supervisor concerning unexpected absences from work as soon as you know you will be unable to report to work. Your work schedule is to be established with your supervisor. Report to work in accordance with the established hours of work in your department. Report any injuries or unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately. Know the safety regulations that apply to your job and help promote and maintain safety standards. Your supervisor or department head has a copy of Personnel Policies. Read the Library Student Employee Handbook for Student Employees and know where to obtain a copy of the policies. Be informed concerning your rights, benefits, and responsibilities. In addition, you have responsibilities to the University, to your department, and to your fellow employees.
